Dear Young friends,
Once again,
Greetings to you in the precious name of Lord God.
Vacation! New class
after vacation! Short break for higher studies! In any case a
good percentage of you lost your good old friends. I can feel
the ache of your heart for your close friends. You are missing
them terribly isn't it? Don't worry you can get new friends,
sometimes changes are for good.
Why we need
friends? We live in a society today that is lonely and self
centered. We need relationships and contact with others,
especially when we are away from our loving ones. Friends are a
help in need, a solution for a problem, a joy to share and
sometimes a shoulder to weep. We can not explain friendship in
few words.
Are you in search of a friend? "Be
friendly" that's the simple way to make friends. When you appear
friendly to others they will come to you, there will be lots of
them. As you know we can not keep all of them. There should be
friends and close friends. Here you have to take care,
choose wisely among them. Because a close friend unknowingly
will become a part of you and it will affect your personality.
People are coming from different families and cultures; they
have
different interests
and personalities; likes and dislikes; ideas and aims. So as Mat
10:16 say "be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as
doves".
Let us see what
Bible (Proverbs) saying about friends:
If you want friends you
should be friendly (Proverbs 18:24)
Friends provide helpful advice (Proverbs 27:9)
Friends are valuable in a time of need (Proverbs 27:10)
True friends are faithful (Proverbs 17:17)
Friends provide helpful criticism (Proverbs 27:6).
So be
friendly to others and get some good friends, then select wisely
the close friends. Don't forget to give them to God for the
final decision. Let Him decide; that will the perfect selection.
Dear, when it
comes to a spiritual friend, no need to worry about a selection.
Because there is only one choice and that is JESUS. From
my experience I can say HE is the best and ever great friend!
Have you ever considered Jesus to be your friend? Perhaps
you have never thought of Jesus in that way. John 15:13 says
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his
life for his friends ". Jesus not only died for his friends, but
for his enemies, the people who hated Him too. He will share all
your burdens and will be a soothing shoulder to lean too. He is
always available for you. Mat 11:29 "Take my yoke upon you, and
learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find
rest unto your souls. We like to speak to friends in our own
languages; here to Jesus you can speak in any language, even the
silent moments with Him also meaningful.
None of the
friendships in this earth will last forever; but the friendship
with Jesus is an everlasting eternal friendship. So invite Jesus
to your life and let Him be your closest friend forever. I love
this hymn, hope you do:
"What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to
bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in
prayer!"
May God’s
blessings and presence be with you where ever you are and
whenever you need. |
