A brief report on the latest actions taken by the Society
(03-05-2007)

This is to brief you on the recent happenings and the actions taken by the Society so far. Hope this will provide some insight into the issues that we are encountering today and how they could be resolved effectively.

Meeting with Mr. Vayalar Ravi, NRI Minister

We had a meeting with Mr. Vayalar Ravi during the recent visit to Kuwait. He advised us not to be complacent by complaining alone, rather go and take ground actions from Bangalore where your properties are situated! He directed us to take police and judicial actions.

When we briefed him about our affirmative actions taken so far, he did appreciate us and directed us to keep working through the Police and Judicial authorities until the problems are fully resolved. He reiterated that there is no tailor made shortcut solutions for NRIs alone to handle Athina type situations.

Visit of M/s. Jacob Thomas and Nandakumar to Bangalore

Both of them have visited Bangalore from 24-26 March to assess the ground realities and to see what progress we have made. They discussed the matters with our Lawyer and Police officials.  When we asked the Lawyer about the status of our Suit, he replied that the court pointed out the lack of members, and secondly about the longitude of civil matters. He suggested that out of court settlement should not be ruled out in certain situations.  Mr. Jacob & Mr. Nandan also met some investors and people in the Athina neighborhood also.

Civil Suit against Joseph Chacko and Citiscape Properties

The last hearing was on 30th March. Following the objection raised by Chacko’s lawyer, the court adjourned for next hearing on 30th May, 2007.

BDA Order to stop all works in Athina Layout

The catalyst for the said BDA order was a representation that we sent to the CM office on 17-12-06, who forwarded the letter to the BDA for further actions! Athina is an illegal layout formed in violation of the greenbelt regulations. We must take immediate measures to stop BDA from taking further actions against us and do the needful to take BDA approval for our layout.

Cable Shreedhar Occupation

The affected sites are published in our website, and site owners are advised to send their details to our Bangalore office. In the meanwhile, we are collecting the background information of the issue to proceed with litigation. Recently, Mr. George Varghese and Mr. Nandakumar visited Shreedhar and a dialogue has begun.

Stage I - SC/ST issue

As we all know, the revenue records of Stage-I is still under name of the original owners. This is a granted property to the daliths. There is a background to this issue. It has now become a major issue that requires our immediate attention of all site owners to take a joint action. A meeting of Phase-I owners was held on  22-4-07 at 7pm at United India School.
We request all site owners of Phase I to contact immediately Mr. George Varghese on Tel. 91-9845-022-015 to know the most recent development and for the action to be taken.

Financial needs

The last but not the least, in order to proceed any further on the pending issues, it is most urgent to raise the required funds as we have already decided in our last General Body meeting.

Presently we are working on a litigation  for which we request all our member to send the necessary documents to Bangalore as early as possible.
